Summer Workforce 2010

The Niagara County Employment and Training Department, administrator for

the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP), has stopped taking applications for the SYEP.

Funding for a Summer Youth Employment Program was included in the NYS Budget.

Funding for a federal funded program is now not expected for Summer 2010.

 

January 26, 2010

Funding has not yet been appropriated for the Summer 2010 Youth Work Experience Program.
Pre-Applications from prospective youth workers, aged 14-21, are being received by the Niagara County
Employment & Training Department; to be considered if and when funding is received.

Niagara placed 483 young people aged 14 to 24 in the summer youth work experience program.
Funding was provided through ARRA and TANF funding.

in helping develop work readiness skills,

Niagara has stopped accepting applications for the Summer Youth Jobs Program as of June 15, 2009.
Unfortunately, we will not be able to serve all the individuals who have already applied for and
been determined eligible for the employment program.

Applicants must be aged 14 through 24, be residents of Niagara County,
and must meet federal income eligibility guidelines.

As of June 8th, our target priority outreach will be for North Tonawanda area residents,

-and-

for the rest of Niagara County, those ages 18 to 24.
